Community Fridge & Grocers
Every Monday, The Jesuscina Foundation hosts a food project for our local community.
This project is open to everyone; you do not need to be part of our academy, and you do not need to sign up or be eligible.
Community Fridge
The Jesuscina Foundation's Community Fridge allows visitors to take food for free.
Surplus perishable food is donated by businesses or members of the public and then made available to all. Our largest supplier is MCKS Charitable Foundation UK. Community fridges are friendly, accessible and community-led initiatives where users can share recipes and spark ideas around wider social and environmental action.
You are welcome to stay for a cuppa and a chat each time you join us!
Community Grocers
Visitors can pay £3 for 10 items. These items vary each week and include cupboard essentials like oil and eggs as well as a range of toiletries from toothpaste to shampoo and deodorant. This £3 donation is reinvested into the grocers so that the charity can contribute to buy a variety of stock.
This £3 can be waived in some circumstances. Please speak to Harriet, the CEO of the charity, or Miss Williams if you need support.
How do I get involved?
You can just turn up! You do not need to be eligible, and you do not need to sign up in advance. Please note the charity will ask for your name. This is a requirement of the Community Fridge Network.
Both of the projects run at the same time, in our Community Hub. You don't have to visit both projects, if you want to just visit the Community Fridge it is okay to do this. Please just tell the volunteers.
To access our Community Hub, you do not need to enter through our main academy reception, you can use our Community Entrance. Each week we put a sign outside so it's clear how to access. If you are travelling by car, please use our car park, you can buzz the intercom to gain access.
