Careers

Our academy is committed to ensuring all of our students have access to highly quality, impartial careers advice and to a range of employers who can support them in considering their future.

To help us do this we have a strategic plan for the delivery of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) and we align our CEIAG Plan to the Gatsby Benchmarks which have been explicitly referenced throughout the DfE’s Careers Strategy (December 2017) the Statutory Guidance for careers (January 2018) and aligns to the delivery of independent careers guidance to students in years 8-13.

The impressive careers programme allows pupils to participate in a vast array of workshops, college and university visits. They are well-informed about potential career choices, and they develop high aspirations for their future. OFSTED 2024

Quality in Careers Standard | The Hertfordshire & Essex High School and Science College

What are the Gatsby Benchmarks?

The 8 Gatsby benchmarks are outlined below:

1. A stable careers programme

2. Learning from career and labour market information

3. Addressing the needs of each student

4. Linking curriculum learning to careers

5. Encounters with employers and employees

6. Experience of work places

7. Encounters with further and higher education

8. Personal guidance

The vision for the development of CEIAG across our academy is to provide the very best opportunities to enable our students to make informed and incisive decisions throughout, and beyond, their school life. By using the Gatsby benchmarks as a framework of best practice we can be sure that we have a CEIAG programme that meets the needs of our ever changing cohort of students.

Unifrog Careers Support and Resources

Each student at Co-op Academy Belle Vue has a login for the online careers platform Unifrog. Unifrog is an incredibly useful resource for students seeking comprehensive information on various career paths and educational opportunities. This online platform offers a user-friendly interface that enables students to explore careers, colleges, and apprenticeships. Unifrog goes beyond traditional career guidance by providing personalised insights based on individual interests, skills, and aspirations. It also serves as a centralised hub for accessing up-to-date information on admission requirements, job profiles, and higher education options. With features like personality assessments and detailed career profiles, Unifrog empowers students to make informed decisions about their future pathways.

Students can access Unifrog here

Login details can be reset using the student’s Co-op Academy email address.

Provider Access

All academies are required to ensure that there is an opportunity for a range of education and training providers to access students in years 8 to 13 for the purposes of informing them about approved technical education, qualifications or apprenticeships. This complies with the school’s legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education Act 1997.

A provider wishing to request access should contact and complete this google form.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships allow you to combine work and study by mixing on-the-job training with classroom learning. You will be employed to do a real job while studying for a formal qualification, usually for one day a week either at a college or a training centre. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will hopefully have gained the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in your chosen career or progress onto the next apprenticeship level.

Your Unifrog login allows you to search for live apprenticeships. You can also use the following useful links:
