Year 6 to Year 7 Transition
Welcome to Co-op Academy Belle Vue!
We are delighted to welcome you and your child to our academy community. Transitioning from primary to secondary school is an exciting milestone, and we are committed to making this journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible. At Co-op Academy Belle Vue, we provide a high-quality education in a consistent and ambitious environment, where every student is encouraged to achieve their full potential.
We understand that moving to secondary school can be both exciting and daunting. That’s why we work closely with our families to ensure students feel well-prepared and confident ahead of their start in September. Our transition programme is designed to support both students and families, helping to create a strong foundation for success.
We are pleased to confirm that this year’s transition day will take place on Monday 9th June 2025. During these days, your child will meet their Form Tutor, tour the academy and participate in a range of activities to help them settle in and feel excited about starting their journey with us.
Further details about our transition programme will be shared with you soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to meeting you and your child and working together to ensure a fantastic start to their secondary education.

Frequently Asked Questions
What contact details do you need from me?
We require a minimum of two emergency contacts, including names, relationships to the student, and up-to-date contact details. This is essential so we can reach you immediately in case of illness or an emergency. Failure to provide accurate details or repeated unsuccessful contact attempts may result in further action by our safeguarding team.
How will you contact me and keep me updated with school information?
Our main communication method is via the email and the Arbor app, which is free to download. Our website is regularly updated with important announcements, including emergency alerts.
What should my child do if they feel unwell during the school day?
If a student feels unwell, they should inform their class teacher. If symptoms persist, they should report to a member of pastoral staff at break or lunchtime, who will arrange for them to be seen by a First Aider.
What should I do if my child is ill before school?
If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please call the academy before 8:30 AM to inform us.
What if my child doesn’t have the correct uniform?
All students are checked for correct uniform upon entry to school. If a student arrives without the correct uniform, they will be placed in the Reset Room for the day. In some circumstances, parents/carers should contact the Head of Year to explain the situation. We have a limited stock of spare uniform items available for borrowing.
Will I be told if my child has a detention?
Parents/carers will be informed via email and the Arbor app.
What if my child loses something?
Students should retrace their steps to find lost items. Lost property is handed to the Head of Year, who then transfers it to the academy office. Students should check at break or lunchtime to see if their item has been handed in. We strongly advise that valuables are not brought into school and that all property is clearly labelled.
What rewards will my child receive?
We celebrate student achievements regularly through teachers, tutors, Pastoral team, and the Senior Leadership Team. Celebration assemblies happen last thing on Friday every week.
Who do I speak to if I am concerned my child has a learning need?
If your child has an EHCP, the school will have been informed during transition. If you have concerns throughout the year, please contact our SENCO.
What do I do if my child is being bullied?
Contact your child's Head of Year
FAQs for Year 7 Students & New Starters
When will my child find out who their Form tutor is?
Students will meet their Form tutor on their first day in September. Parents will have an opportunity to meet some of them at our Settling-in Evening during the first half-term.
How do I purchase the school uniform and PE kit?
Uniform and PE kit can be purchased online from our supplier. Full details, including expectations and ordering information, are available on our academy website.
Will my child be able to purchase food on their first day?
All school meals must be paid for through ParentPay. Further details for Year 6 parents will be provided before the start of the academic year.
What should my child bring on their first day?
Students must arrive in full academy uniform and bring their PE kit and an equipment pack (provided by the academy), which includes all necessary stationery.
Which entrance should my child use?
All students must enter and exit the school via the side student entrance gate. If a student has an after-school detention, they will leave via the same gate.
Will my child have access to a locker?
Currently, we do not provide lockers. Students should bring a bag large enough to carry A4 folders, PE kit, and stationery.
