Dan Sarginson Raises Mental Health Awareness with Year 9

It was an honour to welcome Dan Sarginson into our academy to share his powerful story to Year 9.

Dan Sarginson spoke about his decision to retire at the age of 29, having accomplished over 200 Super League appearances, secured 2 grand final victories, and earned 3 England caps. Despite these remarkable achievements, Dan always struggled with his mental health. He shared these struggles with our students through discussions about his experiences growing up and through his career, and how traumatic life events led to the realisation that he wanted to prioritise his mental health over his career.

Dan is now dedicated to helping others gain insight into their own struggles and find strength to overcome challenges.

Through his story, he shed light on the importance of mental health awareness and the impact it can have on every aspect of life. He also emphasised the crucial connection between mental well-being and overall productivity. He informed our students that by addressing mental health and prioritising mental well-being, they are better equipped to reach their full potential and become the best versions of themselves.

We thank Dan for speaking to our students with honesty and vulnerability to help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves or others and potentially finding the resilience to overcome personal challenges.
