Andrew Gwynne, Member of Parliament for Denton and Reddish, visits Belle Vue
It was a pleasure to welcome Andrew Gwynne, Member of Parliament for Denton and Reddish, into our academy to show him #TheBelleVueDifference.
At Belle Vue we promote British values, including democracy, and we were excited to welcome an elected Member of Parliament into our academy. Andrew is currently Member of Parliament for Denton and Reddish and is running to represent the new Gorton and Denton seat at the next national election.
Our student leaders took Andrew on a tour of our academy, providing an overview of our academy day, with emphasis on community lunch, electives and our CARE principles. Andrew also visited various lessons, giving students the opportunity to ask questions. Some of these questions included:
What inspired you to become involved in politics?
What are the most important issues facing our community/country today?
How can students get more involved in politics?
Andrew was impressed by the questions our students asked and the strong learning culture that we have at Belle Vue.
We hope to see Andrew next month during our trip to London where we'll be touring the Houses of Parliament.
"What an incredible place for learning this new secondary school is! As well as state of the art facilities, the kids are so engaged in lessons. I got some great questions from the classes I visited on my tour."
