Co-op Academy Belle Vue is proud to announce its participation in The Brilliant Club’s Scholars Programme, an award-winning initiative designed to bridge the gap between less advantaged students and competitive university opportunities. This transformative programme equips students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel in higher education.

What is The Brilliant Club?

The Brilliant Club is a UK-wide charity that connects students from non-selective state schools with PhD researchers, introducing them to university-style learning. Through small-group tutorials, the programme develops critical thinking, research, and writing skills, ensuring students are prepared for both university applications and academic success.

The Scholars Programme is tailored for students aged 8-18, offering:

• University-Style Learning: Weekly tutorials led by PhD researchers.
• Skill Development: Support to excel academically and make informed educational choices.
• A Unique Graduation Experience: A celebratory event at a university to recognise students’ achievements.

A New Academic Journey Begins

On Wednesday, 13th November 2024, Co-op Academy Belle Vue students embarked on their Brilliant Club journey, beginning their weekly tutorials with Mr. Nima Khorramrooz, a PhD researcher. These sessions will continue into January, culminating in a university-style assignment submission.

This year, students are exploring the fascinating topic: How does language contribute to the use of power in society? They will examine how language shapes societal structures, analyse complex theories, and produce their own academic work, mirroring the rigor of university-level study.

Building Toward Success

Throughout the programme, students will complete weekly tasks designed to prepare them for their final assignment. Their hard work will be celebrated at a prestigious university graduation event, where they will gain recognition for their efforts and a glimpse of what lies ahead in higher education.
