Co-op Academy Belle Vue is thrilled to offer an extraordinary opportunity for students to take part in the Reach Program, a pioneering initiative designed to equip young people with essential skills and experiences to prepare them for their future careers. The program is a gateway to professional development, offering a unique blend of hands-on work experience, mentoring, and valuable certifications that are highly sought after by employers.

What Is the Reach Program?

The Reach Program is a structured experience that includes:

• Three Work Placement Days: Students gain practical, real-world experience in professional settings, allowing them to see the workplace in action.
• Three Mentoring Sessions: Students engage in guided tasks, using bespoke Reach booklets to track their progress and build essential skills.
• AQA Certifications: Upon completion, students earn five AQA certificates in highly valued areas: World of Work, Leadership, Communication, Problem Solving, and Teamwork.

This combination ensures that students leave the program with not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills and recognised certifications to enhance their future prospects.

A Sustainable Start to the Program

The program kicked off on Tuesday, 12th November 2024, with an inspiring visit to the Co-op head office. Students were given a tour showcasing the building’s innovative eco-friendly features, such as rainwater recycling systems for toilets and motion sensor lights that conserve energy by turning off after five minutes of inactivity.

Following the tour, students were tasked with pitching ideas to improve the environmental sustainability of Co-op Academy Belle Vue to a panel of Mitie colleagues. This dynamic exercise fostered creativity and problem-solving skills, with students receiving constructive feedback to refine their ideas. The day concluded with a shared lunch where students had the opportunity to connect with their new mentors.
