Co-op Academy Belle Vue Visits the Houses of Parliament

Students from Co-op Academy Belle Vue recently embarked on an educational visit to the heart of British politics, visiting the iconic Houses of Parliament in London. Two separate trips were organised for the academy: one for Year 9 students and another for students from Years 7 and 8.

The trips commenced at the crack of dawn, with the students departing from the academy at 6am. Upon arrival in London, they were treated to an extensive guided tour of the Houses of Parliament. This tour provided them with the unique opportunity to explore both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, offering insights into the inner workings of the UK government.

In addition to their time inside the Houses of Parliament, the students also enjoyed visits to several of London’s most famous landmarks. They admired the scenic River Thames, strolled through the beautiful St. James's Park, and took in the grandeur of Buckingham Palace. Their itinerary also included a stop at Trafalgar Square, adding to the richness of their experience in the capital.

The guides who led the tours were particularly impressed with our students. One guide commented, "We never tour secondary schools as knowledgeable as you," highlighting the exceptional behaviour and insightful questions posed by our students.

I really enjoyed our trip to the Houses of Parliament because it gave us golden opportunities to dive into the oceans of the history of our nation's capital.

I was really privileged to go because now it feels very useful and the things I learnt also link to my lessons. Fajar Y7

Overall, the visits were not only educational but also an inspiring experience for all involved. Our students returned with a deeper understanding of the UK’s political system and a greater appreciation for the history and culture of London.
