Co-op Academy Belle Vue Awarded Gold Quality Mark for SMSC

We are thrilled to announce that Co-op Academy Belle Vue has been awarded the prestigious Gold level of the National SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural) Quality Mark. This honour follows a recent verification visit, with confirmation by the Quality Assurance Panel. The recognition highlights the school’s exceptional commitment to the holistic development of its students.

The verification visit left a lasting impression on the assessor, who remarked, "I was immediately struck by the warmth and community feel of your school throughout the time I was there." The enthusiasm and pride demonstrated by the students during the visit were particularly noteworthy. Special thanks were extended to Jack, James, and Aya for their comprehensive and enthusiastic tour, as well as to Gurbani, Delvick, Tanya, Zuha, Maira, Aaban, and Lily for their active participation in the student meeting.

Zuha eloquently encapsulated the spirit of the school, stating, "It isn’t always about the world outside you, but about knowing yourself as a person - you are what you do and I try to represent myself the best way I can at all times." The students collectively described their school as unique, the best, a second home, safe, better, diverse, and CAREing.

Roz, one of our dedicated governors, highlighted the pivotal role of the students in advocating for the school’s values and principles. "The young people themselves are the best advocates for what you do at Belle Vue," she said, emphasising the shared goal of fostering personal growth and effective learning.

The academy was praised  for it's clear vision and effective execution fo SMSC with the support of the entire school community. The CARE curriculum, central to the school’s ethos, received high commendation for being deeply integrated into the school’s life, valued by both pupils and staff alike.

The report identified several strengths in Belle Vue’s SMSC development:

• The CARE curriculum is thoroughly integrated into the school’s life and is a source of pride for the entire community.
• Social development initiatives, such as the Community Lunch and Community Conversations, are regularly enjoyed and valued by the students, offering opportunities for personal growth.
• A tangible sense of safety and belonging is evident, as shown by the students' pride in their school and eagerness to engage in meaningful discussions.

The Gold standard of SMSC development is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collective effort of our students, staff, and families.
