Channel 4 Inspires Next Generation: The Academy Hosts Insightful Media Career Day
Students engage in workshops and Q&A sessions with channel 4 professionals, gaining valuable skills and industry perspectives.
On Thursday, February 8th, the academy was thrilled to host esteemed guests from Channel 4, who engaged with students in years 8 and 9, shedding light on exciting career prospects within the media industry. The day commenced with an enlightening session led by Emily from Get My First Job, providing an overview of diverse career opportunities within the media landscape.
Subsequently, students enthusiastically participated in an interactive 'Have a Go' workshop, immersing themselves in the intricacies of pitching television programs to Channel 4. They were tasked with conceptualising and presenting their own show ideas, gaining firsthand experience in the creative process.
The day reached its pinnacle with a captivating visit from four Channel 4 professionals: Charlotte, Harry, Evie, and Rosa. This panel graciously fielded a myriad of insightful questions from students, spanning topics from their respective career journeys to memorable encounters with celebrities.
Beyond simply acquainting students with media career options, the day aimed to cultivate essential transferable skills prized by all employers. It provided a platform for students to contemplate their future pathways and hone skills vital for success in any profession.
Speaking with the Channel 4 professionals made me realise that there's no one 'right' path to success. It's about passion and taking all opportunities you can get.
I feel more confident in my communication skills after presenting my show idea to the group. It's amazing how much you can do in just one day!
