Bike Library

We have opened a Bike Library, in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester.

Our bike library gives our local community the opportunity to loan bikes, helmets, locks and other cycling equipment absolutely free of charge.

What is a bike library?

Bike libraries are local hubs that will allow people to borrow a bicycle, like a book, to try out. They aim to boost access to cycles and give people a chance to give cycling a go. The bikes are held in our academy, and you can borrow these from 1 day - 1 month. We will provide a lock, helmet, lights, and your bike which must all be returned.

How does a bike library work?

  1. You will need to complete a membership form. Any individual borrowing the bike must complete this form, and individuals under 16 require a parent/guardian to complete it. The form can be found here and can be sent to bell-lettings@coopacademies.co.uk when complete, or it can be given to our main reception. We can provide a printed copy of this form if necessary.
  2. We will be in touch to confirm the desired bike and to verify if a suitable one is currently available.
  3. Bikes must be collected and returned to/from our academy between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m, Monday to Friday.
  4. Please bring photo ID as proof of identity. This must be provided before any bike loans can take place.
  5. A loan agreement is signed by both parties, and a return date is agreed upon.
  6. The bike will need to be returned to the academy at the end of the agreed loan period.
  7. You will have the option to purchase the bike, extend the loan, or return the bike and accessories.

What bikes and equipment do you have?

We have a range of junior and adult bikes, including hybrid and mountain bikes, available in male, female, or unisex models. Each bike will be loaned with a bike pump, helmets, lights, and a lock.

Please email  bell-lettings@coopacademies.co.uk if you have any questions.

Cycle Routes

To discover local cycle routes for planning your bike rides, you can visit Sustrans or download one of TfGM's cycling district maps. There's a cycling map available for each of the ten areas of Greater Manchester.

Be Safe, Be Seen

We are thrilled to endorse Co-op Funeralcare’s Be Safe Be Seen campaign, and as part of our support, everyone who hires a bike will receive a high-visibility reflective armband to wear while cycling.

Community Commitment

To demonstrate our dedication to the community, we've teamed up with suppliers who share our values and love for sustainability, highlighting our role in making a positive impact on the environment. We purchased all of our bikes from CeraCyclone and all of our equipment from The Charity Bike Shop, who are helping children with cancer.
