Mr Barker’s Update- 18 June 2021

Welcome to our fortnightly news letter. We are excited to share all the latest from Co-op Academy Belle Vue over the coming weeks and months. The progress we are making every single day is staggering, all with the end goal of opening up a fantastic school, not only for our new pupils in September but for our local community too.

70 Days!

We haven’t given an update for a number of weeks due to the half term – and a lot has happened since then!

As we slowly meander our way to the last day of term, we have plenty to update you on in terms of the Academy and our preparations for the September opening.

New build update

The building is finally in place. Last week we saw a 100-tonne crane lift in the 27 modules that will make up our Connell Campus. Now all the attention moves to the inside, building the walls, adding the doors, flooring and pieces that will transform the shell into an amazing collection of 10 classrooms, a reception, 3 offices, staff room and toilet blocks.

This is what the building looks like today

New house names

All parents who have accepted a place will have details about our transition days that are happening. With the current news about COVID variants, we are keeping our fingers crossed that we can still hold them in person. One thing we do know is by the end of our transition days, our pupils will have helped us pick our house names.

Houses at Co-op Academy Belle Vue are so important. They determine who we eat with at family dining, which groups we are in for sports day and who we compete alongside in our curriculum competitions. Watch this space to find out what they pick!

Non-teaching roles to be filled soon

We are currently on the look out for our non-teaching staff members who will open with us in September. There is more that goes into a school than teachers (if you didn’t know) and we are looking for them. The roles include admin assistants, site team, teaching assistants and a pastoral year leader. Check them out by clicking here.

Q&A

Have you accepted a place andhave a question you would like to ask me, I will be running a Q&A session every month from June until the opening in September. If you have accepted a place at Belle Vue keep an eye on your emails where I will send you a link to join.

Parent Handbook

We are putting the final touches on our parent handbook, this is your one stop shop for all details about the school and how you can best help your child prepare for their first days with us. Again, keep an eye on your inboxes as we will be pushing this out to all parents who have accepted a place over the coming week.
