Religious Studies

At Co-op Academy Belle Vue, our commitment to unlocking students' potential takes a unique form within the Religious Studies curriculum. Our Religious Studies curriculum goes beyond its disciplinary boundaries, fostering mutual respect, tolerance, and a deeper comprehension of the significance of religion in the lives of individuals and communities. Our curriculum deepens the understanding of the significance of religion in the lives of others – individually, communally and cross-culturally.

The Religious Studies curriculum at Co-op Academy Belle Vue aims to:

  • Provide a comprehensive exploration of diverse religious traditions, offering students a broad and profound understanding reflective of the global religious landscape.

  • Ensure engagement with ambitious and knowledge-rich content for all students, fostering a commitment to academic excellence, regardless of their starting points.

  • Integrate literary skills into the curriculum, empowering students to articulate and analyse complex religious concepts effectively.

  • Implement meticulous sequencing by subject experts, ensuring a coherent learning journey that fosters deep, conceptual understanding and forms strong foundations through connections with prior and future learning.

  • Strategically interleave core knowledge across subjects to promote memory and retention, preparing students for their next steps by establishing a robust foundation for future learning.

  • Foster diversity and inclusivity within the curriculum, creating an environment where students appreciate and respect different perspectives, beliefs, and practices. This, in turn, prepares them to be respectful global citizens, aligning seamlessly with our broader goal of character development.

  • Equip students with the skills and confidence to analytically and respectfully challenge views and to think critically about moral and social issues whilst championing respect for all.
