Our Co-op Commitment

Working together for better academies and strong communities.

We are part of the Co-op Academies Trust, a group of academies united by the values underpinning the co-operative movement; self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity.

We are proud to benefit from the expertise of Co-op colleagues on our governing body, and they also offer unrivalled opportunities to our students to learn about business and ethical issues.

We work closely with the other academies in the Co-op Academies Trust; through co-operation, we raise standards and offer our students the very best.

Co-op Academies Trust

Co-op Academies Trust is a successful Trust made up of 25 academies in the North of England. These include 2 Good secondaries in North Manchester (Co-op Academy Manchester and Co-op Academy North Manchester), and a Good 16-19 College (Connell Co-op College) in East Manchester.

Being Co-op is about creating an environment that celebrates difference. Somewhere both students and colleagues feel responsible, valued, empowered and trusted to do the right thing for each other and our community.

We are led by our cooperative values; whatever we do, they are the way that we do it.

The Co-operative Group

The Co-op’s commitment to education is nothing new, when the co-operative movement started in the mid-nineteenth century, it provided educational activities for members and their families. To this day, education is one of the underpinning principles of the movement globally.

The Co-op champions a better way of doing things for you and your communities. It is owned and governed by its members and membership is open to everyone who shares the Co-op values and principles.

We show these values by working together for everyone’s benefit, and playing a full part in the community. As an ethical leader, The Co-op exists not just to serve its communities but to help them live their best lives.

Our sponsors work with us to support the Academy in making key decisions and in improving standards for everyone. Representatives from the Co-op sit alongside parents/carers, staff and other members of our governing body.
