The Computer Science curriculum at Co-op Belle Vue aims to: 

  • Promote a profound, conceptual grasp of essential knowledge through teaching key concepts such as Algorithmic Thinking, Computer Systems, Data Representation, Digital Design and Creation, and Digital Citizenship. This strategic integration ensures students acquire a strong foundation through expertly sequenced content.

  • Our curriculum interleaves these key concepts across the five years to ensure students’ memory and understanding are being strengthened and that they are being prepared for their next steps.

  • Our curriculum aims to develop students’ character through teaching the importance of responsible online behaviour is continually emphasised through the theme of Digital Citizenship. This component aims to deepen students' understanding of ethical and secure practices in the digital realm.

  • A key focus of our curriculum lies in advancing literacy skills, ensuring that students not only gain technical expertise but also excel in effective communication within the field of Computer Science. We are committed to preparing students for their future pathways at each stage of their learning journey, building upon existing knowledge and establishing connections to forthcoming concepts through maintaining a focus on literacy development.
