Co-op Academy Belle Vue's First Ever Careers Fair

Our sports hall was alive with excitement today as the academy hosted its highly anticipated, first ever, Careers Fair, drawing in over 35 exhibitors from universities, colleges, and employers from all over the country. The event, which aimed to connect students with various career opportunities as well and further and higher education pathways, proved to be a resounding success.

The day commenced with an ambition briefing, where students were encouraged to reflect on their aspirations, identify their strengths, and explore the Labour Market Information (LMI) specific to Greater Manchester. Armed with this knowledge, students prioritised the exhibitors they wished to visit, utilising a comprehensive careers fair booklet designed to aid them in maximising their experience.

Throughout the day, students eagerly engaged with exhibitors, discussing their ambitions and seeking advice on the steps required to achieve them. The enthusiasm and confidence displayed by the students left a lasting impression on the exhibitors, who commended their character and proactive approach towards their future endeavours.

Notably, the presence of parents added to the event, with many joining their children as they navigated through the fair, seising the opportunity to interact with exhibitors and gain valuable insights into the potential career pathways for their child.

Behind the scenes, the success of the Careers Fair was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Academy Pioneers in the Cooperation and Events Committee, who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth execution of the event. Their meticulous coordination ensured that both students and exhibitors alike could make the most of this invaluable opportunity.

Speaking about the event, Mr Haste expressed pride in the students' active participation and thanked all exhibitors for their valuable contributions. "Our students have demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and maturity in exploring their career aspirations today. The Careers Fair has not only provided them with valuable insights but has also empowered them to take proactive steps towards their future success, the event is as much about the experience of conversing with employers and developing social skills as it is about securing valuable knowledge about pathways".

The exhibitors were notably impressed by the character, confidence, and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students throughout the day. Many remarked on the students' insightful questions, thoughtful reflections on their career goals, and their proactive approach to seeking advice and guidance.

The academy was particularly prod to welcome multiple visitors from the Co-op Group living out our value of 'Succeed together'.

As the day drew to a close, it was evident that the Careers Fair had not only served as a platform for career exploration but had also fostered a spirit of ambition and determination amongst the student body.
