HOME ACADEMY AGREEMENT

The Academy will:

  • Provide quality teaching for every student
  • Provide a safe and caring environment for learning
  • Have high expectations of conduct for everyone in the academy
  • Challenge and support students to be responsible for their actions
  • Treat each student fairly and with respect
  • Encourage students to become independent learners, with a desire to fulfil their full potential
  • Set, assess and monitor independent study
  • Communicate important information about each student to their parents/carers.
  • Communicate with parents respectfully and arrange meetings to discuss the progress or behaviour of students
  • Provide an extensive range of quality extra-curricular activities

Parents and carers will:

  • Support the Academy in its mission to provide a safe and caring learning environment, where first class teaching and learning are the primary focus
  • Help my child to learn to take responsibility for their conduct by never making excuses for poor behaviour and supporting detentions and confiscations as needed.
  • Encourage the completion of independent study
  • Ensure my child wears full school uniform on their way to and from school
  • Ensure that my child arrives at school on time, ready to begin lessons at 8.30am
  • Ensure that my child attends school on time, every day, unless there is a medical reason
  • Inform the academy about any absence on the first day, confirming the reason for the absence with a note on their return.
  • Ensure that my child has the correct equipment for each lesson, including Coop Academy Walkden PE kit.
  • Attend all Parents’ Evenings and other meetings to discuss the progress or behaviour of my child.
  • Communicate important information to the school about my child
  • Address any queries about your child or the school, directly with us, so that the academy can respond and take appropriate steps.
  • Communicate with respect when meeting or speaking on the telephone with school staff
  • It is your responsibility as a parent/carer to inform us by email or telephone, any changes of address or telephone numbers. This would not only be for yourself but for any other names on your child’s contact list.

Students will

  • Attend lessons on time and with the right equipment, ready to learn
  • Make every effort to be in school unless a medical reason makes my attendance at school impossible.
  • Wear full Coop Academy Walkden uniform correctly and with pride, including to and from school.
  • Be the best learner that I can be, completing all class and independent work by the deadlines set and to the best of my ability
  • Meet expectations of my behaviour, both in and out of lessons, by following the Academy code of conduct
  • Model good behaviour when travelling to and from the Academy
  • Act in a way that demonstrates our CARE Values
  • Follow the instructions of any member of staff with courtesy and respect.
  • Show self-respect and be respectful of all other students at the academy, accepting their differences and making sure that all children are welcome in our community.
  • Respect and value my academy environment, keeping it clean, tidy and litter-free.
  • Use ICT and other school equipment appropriately and with respect.
  • Ensure that prohibited items, such as cigarettes, drugs or weapons are never brought into school

E-SAFETY

ICT including the Internet, Virtual Learning Environment, e-mail and mobile technologies have become an important part of learning in our Academy. We expect all students to be safe and responsible when using any ICT. It is essential that students are aware of eSafety and know how to stay safe when using any ICT. Students are expected to read and discuss this agreement with their parent or carer and then sign and follow the terms of the agreement. Any concerns or explanations can be discussed with your child’s Form Tutor.

Academy Student Acceptable Use - Agreement / eSafety Rules

  • I will only use ICT systems in the academy, including the internet, e-mail, digital video, mobile technologies, etc. for academy purposes.
  • I will not download or install software on academy technologies.
  • I will only log on to the academy network/Virtual Learning Environment with my own user name and password.
  • I will follow the academy’s ICT security system and not reveal my passwords to anyone and change them regularly.
  • I will only use my academy e-mail address.
  • I will make sure that all ICT communications with students, teachers or others is responsible and sensible.
  • I will be responsible for my behaviour when using the Internet. This includes resources I access and the language I use.
  • I will not tell other people my login details.
  • I will be responsible for all activity that takes place under my login.
  • I will not deliberately browse, download, upload or forward material that could be considered offensive or illegal. If I accidentally come across any such material I will report it immediately to my teacher.
  • I will not give out any personal information such as name, phone number or address. I will not arrange to meet someone unless this is part of an academy project approved by my teacher.
    Images of students and/or staff will only be taken, stored and used for academy purposes in
     line with academy policy and not be distributed outside the academy network without the written permission of the Principal.
  • I will ensure that my online activity, both in academy and outside academy, will not cause the academy, the staff, students or others distress or bring the academy into disrepute.
    I will respect the privacy and ownership of others’ work on-line at all times.  
  • I will not attempt to bypass the internet filtering system.
  • I understand that all my use of the Internet, email and other related technologies can be monitored and logged and can be made available to my teachers.
  • I understand that these rules are designed to keep me safe and that if they are not followed, academy sanctions will be applied and my parent/carer may be contacted.
